WebSMART isn't the only reason a drive can fail. Drives fail all the time without SMART problems. This one looks to have failed due to something that the firmware detected, not SMART issue. Western Digital might have a disk diagnostic you can use if you pull the drive and plug it into a non-raid controller. But ya, you need to replace the drive. WebAug 6, 2024 · UPDATE: So, I did some quick digging and S.M.A.R.T. is an internal hard drive self monitoring/diagnostics. It doesn't always line up with errors that the controller can see and report. In this case, the internal drive doesn't seen an error; however, the RAID controller is reporting a drive failure so the drive should be replaced.
